WILI’s FROGFEST FROG
WINDHAM’S FROGFEST 2005 placed 19 hand made and painted frogs around Windham. WILI’s “Frogcaster” radio bullfrog was made by Angela Cornelle Delgado of Norwich. The frog sculptures were auctioned October 29, 2005 to benefit the Windham Area Arts Collaborative and the Windham Region United Way. The “Frogcaster” resides in the lobby of WILI’s 720 Main Street location.
Wayne Norman has interviewed people from all walks of life in his 38 years at WILI. This time he’s learning about the hops of life from The Frogcaster.
In honor of the 250th anniversary of Windham’s famous “Battle of the Frogs,” Willimantic had a public art event in 2005 showcasing 20 individually designed, painted, and decorated fiberglass frogs on spools–reduced replicas of the four frogs that adorn Willimantic’s famous “Thread City Crossing” bridge. The frogs adorn many downtown locations and businesses. WILI’s “Frogcaster” was refurbished in 2011 by Bobbie Brown of Mansfield.
